Why do we have to pay for car registration?

Kris Bozelle: I'm not an attorney and not giving any legal advice. You do not need to pay the registration, safety inspection, or need a license. These are things required for commercial use. On the other hand, if you don't have them you will be harrassed by the US Mafia for non compliance. If you know how to defend yourself you can fight it. I have beaten 2 speeding tickets in 2 different cities using the default method on TicketSlayer.com. Also, YouTube Charlie Sprinkle.

Autumn Vacio: Your car registration is just another tax, disguised as a fee. It's one more source of revenue for the state, more money for them to squander.

Jesse Japak: 1

Samatha Nicar: Where the funds go depends on the state; in California registrations fees are used to fund the California Highway Patrol as well as the DMV. Seems logical that drivers would be the ones to fund the people who protect them on the highway. The Vehicle License Fee was established by the Legislature in 1! 935 in lieu of a property tax on vehicles. The DMV returns almost all vehicle license fee revenue to the cities and counties. As one state's example, here's a list of the fees and what they fund:http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures/fast_facts/ffvr10......Show more
