Shelley Stevens: Hello,There is a program you can use to change shape files into a format that is compatible with Garmin handhelds. One program is know as Mapwel and the other is CGPSMapper. CGPSMapper is a DOS based tool for compiling the map. CGPSMapper is a easy to use GUI for CGPSMapper. You can take shapefiles and with a little work make them Garmin compatible. The GPSMap 60CSX can be purchased at a great price via GPS City. www.gpscity.com There is also the Oregon 450 that will take raster mapping with some conversion needed. The other way is to buy a GPS enable PDA and run GIS software on it.Cheers...Show more
Dexter Gold: you're able to lay it on the dashboard so it would want to get maximum publicity to the sky. Or purchase one with a much off antenna. I had mine hooked as a lot as my workstation for decades, it worked nicely.
