Shaquita Wernicki: Hi ashleymichelle1982,You can do it but you would need an interface like DVD Xpress. With DVD Xpress you can transfer your video to your hard drive and then edit it if you desire. DVD Xpress comes with basic video editing software. I got mine at Sam's for $59.95. They are cheaper now. You can look at one & read about it here - http://www.usb-ware.com/ads-dvd-xpress.htmYou connect the composite output of your TiVo into the DVD Xpress and connect the DVD Xpress to your computer via a USB cable.Norm...Show more
Madge Voice: TiVo has a program called TiVo ToGo where you can hook your TiVo up to your home network (internet) and transfer shows from your TiVo to your PC (or Mac, but they are two different programs). Just go to tivo.com, log into your account under the purple 'My TiVo', then select "Do More" out of the options on the left hand side (after you are signed in it will be directly under 'My TiVo')Another set of options will then show up, selec! t "TiVo ToGo" and it will give you the option of Windows for a PC or OS X for a Mac.Its pretty easy to get through, and in no time you will be watching recorded shows from your TiVo right on your computer screen. Its great and free as long as you already have the needed wireless router (that way you dont have to have your pc right next to the TiVo!)Also, if you want to put the shows on DVD, like Norm was talking about, you will have to purchase a software that information is also on Tivo's website....Show more
Letitia Bigelow: Hello dobbskramer, You can transfer video to your computer but not with the USB port. It is an input port and doesn't output video. You need a capture device like DVD Express to transfer videos from a TIVO to your computer. Norm
Christiane Cattano: Yes as long as this is a Tivo and not just a plain cable company DVR. Here is a link that will explain ALL of how to transfer the shows/movies from you Tivo to your PC: http://www.weethet.nl/eng! lish/tivo_extract_videos.... Below I am putting some of the ba! sics to help you out.Okay first you need to connect your Tivo to your homes network. If you have a Series 2 or Series 3 Tivo you can purchase a Tivo wireless adapter (ONLY USE the Tivo Brand) or you can purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter which I will list below. Next you connect it to your homes wired/wireless network. This will allow you to use TivoToGo or Tytoo 10r4 to transfer the shows/movies from the Tivo onto a networked PC.(NOT A DIRECTV TIVO SERIES 2 OR SERIES 3, THESE REQUIRE SOFTWARE UPGRADES TO MAKE THIS WORK)Here is a list of compatible USB Ethernet Adapters, which one to buy will depend on your Tivo model and what software version your Tivo is running:USB 1.0 Adapters (not for HR10-250)3Com 3C460B Belkin F5D5050 (confirmed by me) D-Link DSB-650TX Linksys 100TX Linksys USB100M Microsoft MN-110 Netgear FA101 Siemens SS1001 SMC SMC2208 TRENDnet TU-ET100C (confirmed by "Capt.Zod") USB 2.0 Adapters (Also Work with the HR10-250) D-Link DUB-E100 (newer hardware versi! on B1 will not work; Look for versions up to A4 [thanks to "russg"]) *Hawking UF200 *Linksys USB200M Version 1 Look at the box - if there is no "orange and white CD" under the box contents on the right side, then it is a version 2, which will not work with PTVnet. A version 2 will also have a "version 2" sticker on the device itself. *+Netgear FA120 Xterasys XN-121 For PTVnet Version 1.10 (6.2) and Version 1.1 (3.1.5f) (Updated December 2006) * Linksys USB200M version 2 What you need is TivotoGo from the Tivo website, or Tytools 10r4, which will be able to transfer the shows/movies from your Tivo over your network.I can go on and on but if you need more info please feel free to email me and I can send MUCH MORE information than I could list here. Also check out these sites for more info:http://www.dvrplayground.comhttp://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay....http://forums.tivo.com/pe/index.jsp?WT.svl=navhttp://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/index.php?s=e0e0...I know thi! s is alot of info to take in and look at, I spent years learning all th! e Tivo modifying from these site. So check them out at your leisure. If you have any further questions please feel free to send me an email.....Show more
